Fisherman
Project Fisherman is a 4-player cooperative horror shooter set in a Lovecraftian world, developed by Ashina Studios.
Game Concept
After unknowingly capturing a sacred octopus, fishermen are cursed and cast into dark oceanic depths. Washed ashore on a mysterious island inhabited by fish-like people, they must find a way to escape with their ship while battling corrupted souls and sea monsters.
Core Mechanics
Fishing: Keep fish centered by pulling opposite to its movement during struggles.
Ship Maintenance: Repair holes, clean blood, manage steam boilers, and defend against attacks.
Giant Boss Hunts: Hunt ocean giants to break curse fragments and gain benefits.
Key Features
Lovecraftian Horror Atmosphere: Mist-shrouded seas and corrupted creatures.
4 Player Cooperation: Team-based ship management and combat gameplay.
Crafting & Customization: Upgrade gear and ship components.
Narrator Driven Quests: Story progression through procedural missions.
Design Goals & Process
Balance tension with teamwork: Ship hazards (boiler fires, steering failures) require coordinated responses.
Create replayability: Procedural quests and environments ensure unique sessions.
Blend horror with accessibility: Clear visual cues for threats despite chaotic environments.
